Icelandic Horse on Flickr.
Driving on the Snæfellsnes Penninsula in Iceland I spotted two horses in a field that had a dramatic backdrop with a nice waterfall. I decided to try and take a photo or two from a distance. However when the female horse saw me she came running up to me. Icelandic horses are not in the least bit timid and activly seek out human company. She definitely had arab blood in her and was a most beautiful blonde colour with a white mane. She was really friendly and very obligingly struck a few poses for me. All in all a wonderful experience.

As the Sun sets over Dublin Bay if the light is right you get the most amazing effect. The sky goes a rich blue and it looks like God, or the gods, have spread a velvet cloak over the gently undulating hills that hug the coast and strewn that cloak with diamonds and sapphires that glisten in the half light. For about half an hour you can see the soft contours roll down to the sea, beautifully etched with a filigree of diamonds,……magic,…..in a big city,…..in a country known more for the beauty of the isolation of its countryside than for its urban character.
there needs to be more of this
The homeless man with the Rabbit was in Dublin and he also got an Animal Welfare Award from an animal charity. The Rugby player is Brian O’Driscoll of Leinster and Ireland.
New Years Eve on Flickr.
One of the best investments I made for my photography was to buy an ND 16 filter. It has completely opened up that elusive twilight period. Up to this I could never quite capture the look I wanted. An good ND filter will bring out shadow detail, allow you to capture amazing sky’s just after Sunset, and give you a very natural HD look. Best also to invest in a good pair of gloves…..because exposure times are dramatically increased.
I captured this on my way home from work on New Years Eve. Power Stations probably don’t make the most photogenic of subjects but with the lights coming on and even the Holyhead Ferry arriving into port it adds a certain magic….not to mention that wonderful blue you get just after Sunset.
