Sandymount Strand on Flickr. As the Sun sets over Dublin Bay if the light is right you get the most amazing effect. The sky goes a rich blue and it looks like God, or the gods, have spread a velvet cloak over the gently undulating hills that hug the coast and strewn that cloak with diamonds and sapphires that glisten in the half light. For about half an hour you can see the soft contours roll down to the sea, beautifully etched with a filigree of diamonds,……magic,…..in a big city,…..in a country known more for the beauty of the isolation of its countryside than for its urban character.
